Ice Cream Dreams is happening in the near future ... stay tuned for details!
In the meantime, read a bit about the inspiration behind Ice Cream Dreams
In June of 2018, I purchased a wonderful, circa 1903 Victorian B & B with a wonderful barn, a beautiful parlor overlooking Silver Lake, a beautiful deck overlooking Mount Chocorua and a separate shed that oozed of possibilities.
My Mom had died before I purchased the property. She never saw it, but somehow I always felt her presence. After I lost my Mom, I was going through old family photos and found some I had never seen before. One photo was of my grandmother as a teenager, taken on the beach at Silver Lake in 1924. Mom had always shared stories of the lake cabin she used to go to as a child, the same cabin her grandmother used to take them to as kids, but never could remember the name of the lake or the town. Apparently, they used to summer right around the corner from my property!
Fast forward to just a few months ago, I was in the Silver Lake Hardware store chatting with the man behind the counter. He knows me well as I am in there quite often. As we were chatting an older woman joined us. She had overheard our conversation and interrupted. "Are you the Trish that bought the big yellow house down the street?" "Yes I am," I answered. She took my hand with one hand and rubbed my arm with the other and began to ramble, "Congratulations! You seem really nice. I have such fond memories of that house. Every night in the summer when I was a little girl, my Mom and I used to walk from our lake house to your house. They used to serve ice cream in your parlor from the time I was about 10 until about 17."
I got goosebumps. I always pay attention to goosebumps. I asked her how old she was. She was 83. The exact same age that my Mom would have been if she were still alive. And in that instant, I realized that, more than likely, Mom also enjoyed ice cream in my parlor in Silver Lake along with my Aunts, my Uncle, my Nana and my Great Grandma Henry.
Since that day, I've had repetitive dreams of opening a shop. In my dreams I saw people hanging around enjoying ice cream on the deck overlooking the Forrest Brook and Mount Chocorua and in the yard overlooking Silver Lake ... feeling the beauty of their surroundings and perhaps the energy of days gone by.
Although I am fully aware that the need to socially distance will more than likely last for awhile, I am also keenly aware of the need people will have to get out into nature, breathe fresh air, reconnect with each other and find joy! My property is a perfect gathering place with plenty of space for community to gather and ice cream will serve as the perfect way for people to reconnect.
Stay tuned! This girl has visions of scoops of ice cream dancing in her head, punctuated by the wonderful smell of freshly made waffle cones, a culture that encourages all to share their dreams, a work culture that supports young people in pursuing them and people smiling as they share the joy of my ice cream dream ...
